I think culture is the single biggest advantage companies like Google and Amazon have as they begin to manufacture their own chips and sensors. It might be new territory for these organizations but the culture is one where anything is possible and the best, impactful, radical ideas are nurtured and pursued earnestly.
Great point on culture. I read a stat where 52% of Fortune 500 have disappeared over the last 15 years. Intense pressure to innovate will continue. The companies who will thrive will be the ones who embrace a culture that embraces the flow of information and ideas from anywhere within the org.
